Club Coach Development Weekend 2010

The next Club Coach Development Weekend is running on the 24th & 25th April. As per last year we do have the option of adding a third day to the proceedings, and this may be a necessity for some of the courses that may run.

Last year was a great success, with all candidates treated to some fantastic sunny weather. We have also been able to secure the use of Glenmore Lodge yet again, and this time not over the Easter weekend! Hopefully this will help to allow those that wish to attend to do so.

In order to best serve the club coaches in Scotland, we are aiming to run a number of the new courses. Included will be Moderate Water Endorsement training courses, First Aid, Level 2 Transfer and safety awards. By doing this, we can ensure that coaches update (2-day attendance necessary), have access to new courses, or just generally develop their abilities. UKCC supporting modules will also be on offer to help with this process.

As with all events, we are still confirming details, and hopefully adding more content to the program. As soon as we receive confirmation from the deliverers we will be able to complete the paperwork. A finalised version of the program will be available, with booking form, towards the end of January. If you wish to have a copy of the paperwork emailed to you as soon as it is ready, then please send an email to russell.daniels@canoescotland.com expressing so. If not, then please do keep an eye on the canoescotland home page for further details. Some of the courses that will be on offer will have a very limited number of spaces, so it will be highly important for you to book as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Pre-requisite Funding available for Club Coaches

The SCA Coaching Committee have earmarked some funding to assist club coaches in their development in order to support Scottish affiliated clubs.

If you are a club coach and would like to take a BCU/SCA qualification either to move up the scheme within your current discipline or to move into a different discipline - there is funding available for helping gain the prerequisites for coaching awards. Please note that the funding is not for coaching courses, but for gaining the performance awards and safety courses necessary to access coach award training and assessment courses.

Funding will be allocated on a first come, first served basis –so don’t delay and get your application form in today!

Please fill in the Coach Development Application Form.doc (38 KB) and return to andy.murray@canoescotland.com as soon as possible!
